Introvert Business Strengths: What Quiet People Bring to the Table

March 17, 2017 by davina

“You need to be a tiger.”

“The meek will not inherit the earth.”

“You are too quiet!”

These are all actual things that I have heard my entire life.  I am quiet, kind of reserved, introvert I believe is the new hip term.  I came out of the womb that way, but people continue to want to try and change me, so let’s see if I can make them happy.

Be a tiger.  Hmm, there must be a Snapchat filter for that:

What do you think? I don’t think this is quite a tiger.

Nope, still not right.

Teddy Bear?  Looks like I can’t be a tiger, I can only be me.

So how can you be successful when the world thinks that being introverted is a bad thing, that quiet people are weak?

There is that popular saying “watch out for the quiet ones”  This is all so true, when we use the strengths that we have we are very powerful.   What kind of business strengths do introverts have?

Strengths of Introverts

  1. We are great listeners.  Have you ever noticed that people that like to talk tend to do that, talk! And because of that, they talk over people and don’t hear what they are saying.  When you are an introvert you can really pay attention and listen to what people want and need.
  2. We are more patient.  An introvert tends to be more patient with other people because we are great listeners.  This comes in handy when you have an unhappy customer, you can deal with them in a patient and loving way.
  3. We get to the point.  We have all been there.  You are talking with somebody and they are talking about one thing and then they go off on this story that takes them on a completely different train of thought.  Don’t get me wrong, usually their stories are good, but most of the time they forget what they even wanted to talk about in the first place.  When you are an introvert, you are not wordy because usually you are quiet and not a big talker, so you get to the point quickly.

All of these qualities lend to great customer service for your customers.  Don’t let people tell you that you can’t succeed because you are quiet, the only person who determines your success is you.  I know it is hard to let people in your world, but once you let them, they will get to see all the wonderful qualities you have.

Would you like to learn more about how to manage a business when you are quiet, send me a message and I would be happy to chat with you (don’t worry, I will actually talk)!
